Meet Tammie Pursley
Background
I am a retired teacher who decided to finally achieve a life long goal of becoming a professional artist. I am inspired by the world around me, the bright colors, and the beauty of the "face". I love to take a old used canvas and give it a new life. Most of my pieces are created on recycled canvases, wood or plastic.
My love for art began at a young age when I could be found drawing the fish from the World Book Encyclopedia. I stopped creating when I had a beautiful family and started teaching, there was not enough time and energy. When I retired last year, well, no more excuses, and here I am, living my dream!!.
Inspiration
My goal is to create original artwork that evokes emotion and tells a story. My portraits have unique shapes, colors and every one of them has something that is a little "OFF". I like to use bright colors that give the tone of "happy" and "peaceful". My favorite colors to paint with are turquoise, deep red and of course every shade of pink. I am an eclectic artist who creates mixed media artwork using anything that I can find in my home studio.

July 1 - August 31 - Tammie has 6 paintings entered in the Summer Sizzle Art Show, OneOhOne Gallery, 101 W. Main St., Mesa. The show has around 100 pieces on exhibit from artists around the valley.
